Big Easy By Night is a Vampire: The Masquerade (5th Edition) Game set in New Orleans during the roaring 20’s.

Beginning in 1920 and ending in 1930.

A Brief Background

New Orleans is a Free City under the eyes of both Camarilla and Sabbat since the War of the States back nearly a century before. It is the height of Prohibition and the beginning of Nationalism movements across Europe which in the future will affect the whole world.

New Orleans and it’s Kindred denizens struggle to keep the city free of the entanglements of the Camarilla and Sabbat. While protecting its own from corrupt politicians, Inquistion, the Mafia, and Voodoo.

At the center of this is the Roosevelt Hotel and the Legendary “The Cave” nightclub where the mover and shakers of the City rub shoulders with each other.

It’s the stroke of midnight, the Witching Hour has begun welcome the Dark Celebration.

We begin in the 19th Century…

New Orleans despite its many national owners was one of the most prosperous ports in North America, and often served as neutral territory where world powers would meet and discuss things.

The City, has connections to the Pirate Trade, the Slave Trade and later with the power of Steam, became the southernmost distribution hub of the United States. Even after becoming a part of the United States it would serve to the most important of ports for the 20th Century.

In the 20th Century

After surviving both the Civil War and Reconstruction New Orleans is again thriving. Steam is giving over to gasoline and electricity. And large scale projects that suggest a new world of tomorrow are now coming into play.

Yet with all the growth there are still the dividing lines. Most obvious is that of the races, the second of social status, and the living and the dead.

Most towns in Louisiana could barely support a KIndred population, but New Orleans has a sizable one with neighboring cities like Gretna, Westwego and Kenner quickly following suit. But the Vampires are finding out that as they been squabbling over the resources of Jefferson and Orleans Parishes. Rural Parishes like Plaquimines and St. Bernard are getting their own power brokers.

As a result it is war of propaganda and politics, and all is fair in love and war. The New Orleans Political Machine runs against the Neo-Dictatorship of Long and Perez. Gangsters like Sylvestro Carolla avoiding the likes of Cecil Moore and Theodore Ray because his bootlegging ways.

And the Kindred working their machinations at night not only using the First Tradition as the golden rule, but a shield to protect their kind from the likes of such mortals. The Kindred are dealing with Hunters from both the Society of Leopold, the Government and even some independent factions

The Story So Far…

New Year’s at the Cave

New Year’s Eve is also a time for a grand ball in The Cave. But at the stroke of midnight. There was ghastly light and sound show and then a nude corpse covered in a weird writing across his skin.

From that moment on the Kindred were investgating the source of the event.
